Investing in our community’s children

Nearly 25 years ago, a group of parents in the Valhalla School District came together to find a way to fund valuable experiences for our students, and hoped to do so without causing a higher tax burden on our community.  We created the Valhalla Schools Foundation, a not for profit 501(c)(3) which provides grant monies to teachers and community members with worthwhile ideas. Over the years, we have touched the lives of thousands of students in our district, and have held annual fundraisers which are “fun raisers” for our parents and staff. Our annual calendar includes a springtime Comedy Night event and a grant cycle through which people can apply for money to fund programs or equipment for the following school year.

At the end of each school year, we are also proud to present a scholarship to a graduating senior, using funds left to us by a beloved teacher from our Kensico Elementary School. The Scholarship given in Memory of Antonia Piria is given to a student who intends to become a teacher in the future.

We have provided over $300,000.00 to our community in the last quarter century, and are very proud of our efforts.  We welcome interested volunteers to join our Board.

Enriching our children’s experience

Many of the grants we provide to members of the school community provide for interesting events for the children to participate in

An avenue to the community

Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond the school to help ensure students have the necessary support to do their best learning.
